What is paint sheen?

-It is simply the level of glossiness in paint.

What are the types of paint sheen?

-Flat/Matte
-Eggshell/Low-Gloss
-Satin
-Semi-Gloss
-High-Gloss

1-Flat/Matte:

-Appearance: Looks smooth, subtle finish and absorbs lights.
-Pros: Disguises imperfections, provides the most coverage and easy to touch up.
-Cons: Holds dirt, not easy to clean and the scrubbing may burnish the finish.
-Durability: Medium.
-Application: Great for the low traffic areas, ceiling, adult's bedrooms and rough walls.

2-Eggshell:

-Appearance: Looks smooth and low sheen finish.
-Pros: Hides imperfections and easier to clean or to scrub.
-Cons: Couldn't be touched up.
-Durability: Medium.
-Application: Great for medium traffic areas, typical walls, dining rooms, bedrooms and living rooms.


3-Satin:

-Appearance: Looks velvety and soft sheen that reflects lights.
-Pros: Resistant to humidity, easy to clean, holds up better and very versatile.
-Cons: Shows more imperfections, reveal most of flaws such as the roller or the brush stroke.
-Durability: High
-Application: Great for high traffic areas, entrances, rest-rooms, family rooms and kid's bedroom.

4-Semi-Gloss:

-Appearance: Looks smooth and reflects lights.
-Pros: Easy to clean, durable, high resistant to humidity, drips, grease stains, used indoor and outdoor.
-Cons: Shows a lot of imperfections, couldn't be touched up, the paint applied should be very carefully to avoid streaky sheen.
-Durability: High.
-Application: Great for high traffic areas, kitchens, bathrooms and furniture. 

5-High-Gloss:

-Appearance:Looks high sheen.
-Pros: The Toughest and most durable, the most resistant to stains and dirt and easy to clean.
-Cons: Shows pumps and rolls, couldn't be touched up.
-Durability: very high
-Application: Great for surfaces need extra clean-ability and durability, kitchen and door frames.
